Healing ancestral spiritual ruptures

Mystic artist Ananth Das on what it takes to flourish in life's in-between spaces

This month’s Soulful Revolutionary is Ananth Das, an artist and kundalini yogi currently pursuing their doctorate in clinical psychology.

Ananth bring immense delight and insight to this wide-ranging conversation about mysticism, decoloniality, neurodivergence and spiritual practice.

Raised Hindu and now with a robust engaged Buddhist and yogic practice, Ananth has much wisdom to offer when it comes to recovering long-lost traditions, trying new ones on, and finding practices that resonate with one’s spirit. For Ananth, spirituality is innate, and creativity and the child within can help us reconnect with the spiritualities of our ancestors – a legacy which for so many has been interrupted by the violence of colonialism and white supremacy.

It was a treat to hear about Ananth’s mystical creative process. Audio production can’t do justice to the result, so Ananth has graciously shared one of their pieces, SEROTONERGIA, with us:

"SEROTONERGIA." 9/21. 11x24" acrylic on canvas.

Here’s Ananth’s description of this piece:

An ALIEN DAYDREAMS creation by AETHER. This piece was completed entirely in one 10 hour sitting while in a sustained spiritual trance. Reflecting the discourse between AETHER & the cosmos--this painting weaves a story of oneness & cosmic love, which we are able to connect to through our consciousness and the divine neuronal pathways that reside in the bodies we are born with. This creation serves as a reminder that love is the revolution, brought into fruition by the collective of souls who are dedicated to the cessation of oppression and worldly suffering.
